SUMMARY:Rheumatology Update and Highlights from ACR 2018
DESCRIPTION:Washington University School of Medicine\n\n\n\nSaturday\, February 9\, 2019\n\n\n\nThe Rheumatology Update & Highlights from ACR course is a review of recent treatment of autoimmune diseases. Course participants will gain a better perspective of how to recognize and diagnose common rheumatologic disorders. \n\n\n\nLectures will provide attendees with the latest information in arthritis\, lupus and other rheumatologic conditions; panel discussions will allow participants to raise questions and participate in dialogue with course faculty. \n\n\n\nThis course may also be of interest to physicians who practice in allergy and immunology\, cardiology and vascular medicine\, critical care and trauma\, dermatology\, endocrinology\, geriatrics\, infectious diseases\, medical genetic and genomics\, nephrology\, oncology and hematology\, ophthalmology\, orthopedics\, pathology\, physical medicine & rehabilitation and pulmonary medicine. \n\n\n\nThis course is designed for rheumatologists\, internists\, primary care physicians\, nurses\, nurse practitioners\, pharmacists\, physician assistants and other allied health care professionals. \n\n\n\nThe intended result of this activity is increased knowledge\, competence and performance towards the evaluation and management of the rheumatologic disorders. \n\n\n\nAt the conclusion of this activity\, participants should be able to:\n\n\n\nApply current rheumatology guidelines in clinical practice.Evaluate and interpret current literature relevant to clinical practice in rheumatology.Explain recent advances in the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic diseases.Transfer this improved understanding and knowledge to the care of patients with rheumatic diseases.Employ evidence-based management that includes the latest ACR recommendations.Implement strategies/resources to recognize the importance of early aggressive treatment in order to improve patient outcomes.Assess the benefits and risks of current and emerging therapies and their outcomes.Evaluate the potential impact of biologic agents with novel mechanisms of action and their potential impact on autoimmune disease management.\n\n\n\nCredit available for this activity:\n\n\n\nAmerican Medical Association (AMA Credit) Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis designates this live activity for a maximum of 4.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™.
