Bricker Visiting Lecture in Surgery\n\nEnrollment in the General Surgery Course is a Pre-Requisite to enroll in these (3) courses. \n\nUpdates in Hernia Surgery\nUpdates in Wound Care\nGeneral Surgery Observation Day\n\nPresented By\nDepartment of Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis \nCredit Provided By\nWashington University School ofMedicine in St. LouisContinuing Medical Education \nCourse Chairs\nJeffrey Blatnik\, MDMaria B. Majella Doyle\, MDSteven R. Hunt\, MD \nTechnology for general surgery is constantly evolving. This course will provide an interactive and comprehensive experience focusing on management and treatment options from a general surgical perspective. This interactive symposium\, designed for general surgeons\, assists in decision-making for multiple aspects of surgical practice. Active audience participation with faculty is strongly encouraged during case presentations and the faculty panel discussions. \nThe goal of the course is to provide an atmosphere to foster collaboration\, innovation and sharing a cost-effective diagnostic approach for patients with complex general surgery cases involving hernia\, oncology and HPB\, minimally-invasive surgery\, practice measures and outcomes; as well as colorectal surgery. We will cover what is new in enhanced recovery protocols and offer interactive sessions consisting of cases and questions and answers. American College of Surgery (ACS) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) self-assessment credits will be offered. \nFollowing this course\, participants attending this course should be able to:\n\nDescribe the management of common general surgery emergency cases.\nDescribe the indications and contraindications for managing various cases of hernia repairs.\nDiscuss evidence-based and diagnostic approach for patients with common benign and malignant colorectal cases.\nRationalize patient management and treatment options for patients with breast disease\, soft tissue tumors.\nIdentify treatment options for patients with biliary and pancreatic diseases.\nReview and provide update on current enhanced recovery protocols.\n\nMeet the professor breakfast sessions.\nThese are small teaching groups covering topics not presented in the main course which provide the opportunity for highly interactive communication in areas of particular interest to registrants.
