PSN Neurologist: Dr. V. Kent Cooper, M.D.

Dr. V. Kent Cooper, M.D., is board certified in Neurology and does adult general Neurology clinics as well as EMG testing, EEG interpretation, Vagus Nerve Stimulator monitoring for Epilepsy, and Deep Brain Stimulator monitoring for movement disorders.

In addition, he also performs botox injections for headaches and spasticity problems related to several neurological conditions. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated Cum Laude from the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine.

Dr. Cooper is a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Association of Neuromuscular and Electrodiagnostic Medicine. He is a provider for several outpatient Neurology Clinics in Southeastern Kansas, South Missouri and Central Arkansas.

Prior to joining PSN, I was involved in a daily outpatient as well as directing an inpatient rehab unit and stroke program. The “wearing of multiple hats” left me stretched too thin, and I found myself in too many meetings, doing too much paperwork, and essentially providing less patient care. After doing “traditional Neurology” for 18 yrs. (clinic + hospital + call + ER evaluations) I was ready to take a different direction, one in which I could see myself doing for years to come and not getting burned out.

I have thoroughly enjoyed working with PSN.

I appreciate the variety I get in a general neurology clinic. Working with predominantly smaller rural hospitals is very rewarding in terms of patient and staff appreciation. Also, with today’s ever expanding technology, it is much easier to follow up on patient test results and communicate with the staff at each clinic I go to in an effective and timely fashion.

The staff at PSN has been extremely helpful since I started out. They were there to help me get set up with different hospitals, did the contract negotiating with the different hospitals, and have access to various resources one needs as they make this type of transition such as malpractice carriers, accountants, and health insurance carriers.
