Join PSN and say “yes” to helping create a world where people don’t have to struggle to button their shirt, tie their shoe, pick up their child or grandchild or play with their friends. It’s up to us to help those with arthritis gain access to life-changing information and resources so they can better manage their disease and live full, healthy lives, plus accelerate the path to better treatments and eventually a cure through cutting-edge research.

This years registration for the WALK includes FREE admission into the Miners game. The Walk will start inside the stadium and will go around the concourse, to the outfield gate (not yet on the field). Then it’ll enter the outfield gate and walk around the track and onto home plate. The Walk itself starts at 6:00 p.m. but check-in for the Walk starts at 5:30 p.m.

Arthritis Foundation – Missouri

Saturday, March 2, 2019

Program Information

An estimated 300,000 children in the U.S. — that’s 1 in 250 kids — are affected by some form of JA. This disease takes a unique physical and emotional toll on kids, often resulting in debilitating pain and feelings of loneliness or depression. JA can make it especially challenging for kids to say Yes — Yes to playing, Yes to hanging out with friends, Yes to spending time with family, Yes to being a kid!

Presented by

Dr. Jackson Receives 2018 Arthritis Foundation Medical Honoree Award

St. Louis, Missouri – Dr. Robert Jackson, DO, a Rheumatologist from Kirksville, Missouri received the prestigious 2018 Medical Honoree Award from the Arthritis Foundation of Missouri. The event was held at the Ritz Carlton in St. Louis with more than 500 business leaders and elite members of the Missouri Arthritis community in attendance.

This coveted award is presented annually to a member of the medical community who has dedicated his or her career to improving patient outcomes and reducing the suffering of those afflicted with arthritis.

Dr. Jackson is also the President and Founder of Premier Specialty Network (PSN). His organization provides medical specialists to rural community and critical access hospitals where specialty care might not otherwise be available.

PSN offers outreach specialists to hospitals in numerous states including Missouri, Iowa, Illinois, Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, Wyoming, and Kentucky.

Providing a need

Due to the shortage of Rheumatologists in rural areas, Dr. Jackson also trains Nurse Practitioners in Rheumatology and makes them available to numerous area hospitals through PSN.

APRNs Shayla Sanders, Shawnee Kellison, Ashley Harmon, and Elizabeth Allen all provide Rheumatology specialty services in collaboration with Dr. Jackson and PSN network providers.

Area hospitals where PSN trained Nurse Practitioners see patients include: Samaritan Hospital in Macon, MO; Pershing Memorial Hospital in Brookfield, MO; Wayne County Hospital in Corydon, IA; Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, IA; Mercy Medical Center in Centerville, IA; Monroe County Hospital in Albia, IA; and Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua, IA.

Future additional sites in Iowa include Pella Regional Medical Center (Pella and Ottumwa), Mahaska Health Partners and Keokuk County Health Center.

Serving in Missouri

Dr. Jackson currently sees patients in Hannibal, Macon, Milan and Memphis, Missouri as well as Bloomfield, Fairfield, Ottumwa, and Pella, Iowa.

Dr. Jackson previously served as the Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Chairman and Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at A.T. Still University, formerly known as the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Featured Medical Honoree

Dr. Robert Jackson, D.O., F.A.C.O.I., has served as the Associate Dean of Campus Academic Affairs, and as Chairman and Associate Professor of Internal Medicine at the Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine.

He is board certified in the specialty of Internal Medicine as well as the sub-specialty of Rheumatology. Dr. Jackson has also completed a four year tour of duty with the National Health Corps in rural Southern Missouri.

Dr. Jackson is currently president of Premier Specialty Network (PSN) and is a full time PSN Rheumatologist, practicing at nine different hospitals in the states of Missouri and Iowa.

Founded by Dr. Jackson in 1999, PSN has proudly provided quality healthcare to rural communities throughout the United States by establishing satellite clinics staffed by top level doctors.

PSN originally evolved out of the Northeast Missouri Rural Health Network (NMRHN). While directing NMRHN, Dr. Jackson became acutely aware of the need to improve access to rural healthcare.

With his guidance and leadership, NMRHN helped develop 5 Critical Access Hospitals (CAH) in northeast Missouri (Unionville, Milan, Macon, Memphis and Brookfield). Subsequently, Dr. Jackson developed a unique model of outreach specialty medical service for Rheumatology to serve the same hospitals.

PSN has since expanded this model over the course of the years and now provides a variety of medical and surgical services to communities across the United States.

Walk to Cure Arthritis

Everyone knows someone with arthritis. It affects more than 50 million Americans, including 300,000 children. People with arthritis are warriors – they face relentless pain, a frustrating search for a diagnosis, multiple doctor’s visits and treatment, missed work and school, limited mobility, a maze of medical and insurance paperwork, and the desire to live a full life without the limitations that arthritis creates.

The Walk to Cure Arthritis is the largest gathering of the arthritis community in the world, raising funds for research, resources, better treatments and a cure.  More than just a walk event, it’s something even bigger than arthritis itself.

ONE Can Make a Difference

Arthritis is tough, but we are even tougher – especially when we all come together for the largest arthritis gathering in the world!

The Arthritis Foundation’s Walk to Cure Arthritis is where we become ONE, rising up to fight this life-altering disease even harder. Where we join hand in hand to celebrate arthritis warriors and raise crucial funds for innovative research, resources and a cure.

One in every four Americans has arthritis, making it the nation’s leading cause of disability. Two-thirds of those affected are under age 65, including 300,000 children. Arthritis is painful, debilitating and diminishes quality of life. But every day we’re making more headway through scientific discoveries that bring us closer to a cure.

Whether you’re an arthritis warrior yourself or care about someone who is, sign up and WALK to CURE Arthritis.
